First create a real boat

In the menu 'Boat->Account management>New' select real boat instead of VLM boat. Choose a name then OK.
In the menu 'Boat->boat parameter', select eventually the GPS port number and speed and select a polar(if you don't have one for your boat you need to use something similar or create a new one).
You can tune the polar efficiency.
You can also specify if routing and route modules should use engine if the speed of the boat becomes less than a parameter.
You real boat panel looks like this:

You can move the boat manually, select if you want to see headings with magnetic declinaison, starts the GPS, setup a WP, a route, a routing, etc.
